September has been a busy month. I attended Slow Food Nation in San Francisco, where I grazed for story ideas and on delicious morsels of farm-fresh food. I also caught up with my coffee world contacts at the coffee pavilion, beautifully curated by Ecco Caffe's Andrew Barnett, Ritual's Eileen Hassi, and coffee consultant Tony Konecny; went to a panel where Dan Barber, Michael Pollan, Winona LaDuke, and Gary Nabhan spoke about re-localizing the food system; saw a preview of Michael Pollan and Eric Schlosser's upcoming movie, Food Inc.; and attended a dinner where environmental activist and author Vandana Shiva spoke.
I've been working on a few articles that will be out soon, but in the meantime here are two recent pieces I've written for JANERA.com, the Voice of Global Nomads. One, a Q&A with New York Times Frugal Traveler Matt Gross; the other, a blog post about a recent Saturday I spent going door-to-door for Obama-Biden in Northeastern Philadelphia.
